Today Governor John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards will host a summit on equal pay legislation. The governor says closing the gap when it comes to pay disparity between male and female workers will be good for families and the economy. Co-chairing the summit is Aprill Springfield. She says Louisiana’s wage gap equates to more than $16-thousand a year…:

The summit is being held at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge.

The eastbound lanes of I-10 near Sorrento will be closed over the weekend. DOTD Spokesperson Rodney Mallet says the two lane closure will begin tonight at 9 and the highway will reopen Monday at 5 a.m.. He recommends checking multiple alternative routes to avoid big delays…:

There’s good news for those who want to see more women in elected office in Louisiana. 9 candidates are running in the state’s judicial races this year, and none of them are men. A Newcomb College Institute of Tulane University study, authored by Sally Kenney, finds even though the Bayou State ranks fairly low when it comes to women in the legislature…:

A microscope is once again over State Police as sources report that the FBI is delivering a series of grand jury subpoenas this week to members of the Louisiana State Police Association amid allegations of unlawful political contributions. The president of the nonprofit organization says they are cooperating fully and anticipate the opportunity to correct misinformation that has been purported. A spokesman with State Police has noted that the troopers association is independent of the department.
