BREAKING: Multiple news outlets are reporting that several members of Congress were shot in a suburban area of Washington D.C., including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana. Reports indicate it happened at the Republican congressional baseball team’s early morning practice. We’ll have more on this as it develops.

The House Appropriations Committee has approved a 28-billion dollar budget plan that spends more than what they proposed in the regular session, but still less than what the Senate and governor wanted. But Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says that $100 million dollars being held back is money the state might need in the mid-year that they wouldn’t be able to spend. The full House is expected to vote on the budget today.

Louisiana is one of 30 states seeing a decline in gas prices. AAA Spokesman Don Redman says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is about $2.14. He says refineries are staying in line with demand…:

He expects the statewide average to remain above $2 a gallon throughout the summer.

State Police say their investigators looking into a deadly officer involved shooting in which a Baton Police Department cop shot and killed a passenger who exited a vehicle with a gun during a traffic stop. This is an active investigation.
