State Police officially confirmed the identity of the man who shot and killed three law enforcement officers, and injured 3 others Sunday in Baton Rouge. They confirmed through fingerprints that it was 29-year-old Gavin Long of Kansas Missouri. Officials say they will release additional information about the investigation at a 2pm news conference. The two Baton Rouge police officers killed have been identified as 41-year-old Matthew Gerald and 32-year-old Montrell Jackson. 45-year-old EBRSO Deputy Brad Garafola also died. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says 41-year-old deputy Nicholas Tullier is currently in critical condition, and 51-year-old Bruce Simmons has non-life threatening injuries.
The fatal officer shootings in Baton Rouge came two days after the funeral of Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man fatally shot during a confrontation with two white police officers.
