New Orleans Police report a fatal shooting occurred last night along the Uptown parade route during the Krewe of Muses parade. A 21-year-old man, who was shot in the chest, died while in surgery. Another victim was shot in the neck and is listed in critical condition. Authorities arrested the suspect shortly after he fled the scene.

Despite last night’s shooting, New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau President Stephen Perry says Mardi Gras season is typically one of the most protected times of the year in New Orleans…

State Police is deploying 150 extra troopers to the city to help with crowd control.

Open enrollment to purchase health insurance through the Affordable Care Act ends Sunday. Kara James, with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, says there have been several improvements to the HealthCare-dot-gov website to make it easier and faster for people to enroll…

A member of the “Angola 3″ is indicted for a third time in the 1972 murder of Angola prison guard, Brent Miller. Albert Woodfox was one of three people convicted but Woodfox has argued he’s an innocent man. Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Prosecutor Tony Clayton says evidence shows otherwise…:

Amnesty International says there is no physical evidence that ties Woodfox to the crime.
