LSU and Ole Miss meet again tonight in Tiger Stadium for an 8:15 PM kickoff. Running back Leonard Fournette returns to the field tonight for the Tigers after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. Ole Miss has had trouble stopping the run this year, while Rebels Quarterback Chad Kelly goes up against an LSU defense that’s allowed just six touchdowns this season.
Louisiana Tech’s offense has been tough to slow down lately and the Bulldogs are looking for their fourth straight win when they visit F-I-U. The Panthers are 3-0 in Conference USA and have not lost since Ron Cooper took over as interim head coach.
Nicholls State hosts Sam Houston State at 2:30. The Bearkats are ranked number one in the FCS and have won nine straight over the Colonels, who are off to their best start in the Southland since 2005.
Also in the Southland…Southeastern Louisiana is at Houston Baptist and Northwestern hosts McNeese for homecoming.
If UL Lafayette wants to play in a bowl game this year, they’ll need to get a win tonight in San Macros. The 2-and-4 Cajuns visits a 2-4 Texas State team. The Bobcats rank 124th in the nation in total defense.
ULM is at New Mexico as redshirt freshman Will Collins will make his first start at quarterback for the Warhawks.
Also today, Tulane is at Tulsa, Grambing is at winless Mississppi Valley State, Southern hosts Arkansas Pine Bluff and Louisiana College hosts Belhaven at 6 PM.
The Saints bring the NFL’s top passing attack to Kansas City, where they’ll visit the Chiefs tomorrow. New Orleans has won two straight. K-C is 3-2 and beat Oakland last week, but lost two starters on defense for the year in that game because of injuries, linebacker Justin March-Lillard and defensive end Allen Bailey.
High School football last night…Neville thumped Tioga 41-3, St. Thomas More walloped Teurlings Catholic 42-14 and Catholic rallied to beat St. Amant 31-28.
