Running back Leonard Fournette will not play in LSU’s bowl game, because of that ankle injury that limited him to seven games this season. Fournette first injured the ankle in August and he kept re-aggravating the injury during the course of the season and finished with 843 yards rushing and eight touchdowns….

Fournette is expected to be a top 10 draft pick in next year’s NFL draft.
Cajuns running back Elijah McGuire’s great college football career comes to an end tonight as UL Lafayette faces Southern Miss in the R-and-L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. McGuire is the second-leading rusher in school history and he goes up against a unit that ranks 18 nationally in total defense. The Southern Miss “D” has also only allowed teams to convert on third downs 24-percent of the time, second best in the nation. Kick-off is at 8 PM.
Grambling takes on North Carolina Central in the Celebration Bowl, which will be played in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta at 11 AM. Grambling is 10-1, winners of the SWAC. N-C Central is 9-2 and won the MEAC under third year head coach Jerry Mack. Two good quarterbacks in this one, Devante Kincade for Grambling and Malcolm Bell for N-C Central.
Southeastern Louisiana football coach Rob Roberts has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2018 season. Roberts just completed his fifth season in Hammond and the Lions were 7-4 this past season.
Tomorrow the Saints are at Arizona. Cornerback Delvin Breaux and linebacker Stephone Anthony have been ruled out because of injuries. Running back Mark Ingram, who’s had knee and toe injuries, was not listed on the injury report.
In the NBA last night….the Rockets made an NBA record 24 three-pointers as New Orleans fell to Houston 122-100. Anthony Davis had 19 points for New Orleans, but didn’t play much in the second half because of a lower left leg contusion.
