Rough night for the Pelicans last night as they were burned by the Phoenix Suns 123 to 109. Devin Booker scored 52 points as the Suns won their fourth straight. Booker scored 25 in the first quarter. Zion Williamson had 24 points in the loss. The Pels next game is Tuesday against the Jazz.

LSU will try to go 4-1 in SEC play when they host Texas A-and-M. The Aggies are 1-and-3 in conference and they are coming off a one-point loss to Arkansas where Wade Taylor scored 41 points. Coach Matt McMahon on slowing down Taylor…

Corey Raymond is back in Purple and Gold. The longtime secondary coach is back with the Tigers and he’ll coach the cornerbacks. Raymond’s contract is reportedly for two years, with a school option for a third year that could keep him at LSU through 2026. The other two new additions are from Missouri…edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples and safeties coach Jake Olsen.

Former LSU offensive tackle Lance Heard has transferred to Tennessee. Heard is a former five-star prospect from Neville High School.

In college hoops action today…the Cajuns are at South Alabama. Both teams are 3-and-3 in the Sun Belt. ULM is at Old Dominion. The two teams have combined to win one league game.

Louisiana Tech is at Jacksonville State. Both teams are 2-and-1 in league play.

In the Southland. McNeese is at UIW. UNO hosts Northwestern State. Nicholls travels to Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi.

Southern is at Grambling. Both teams are 3-and-1 in the SWAC.
