A Lafayette police officer was shot last night while searching for a suspect inside an apartment. The officer is in stable condition. The man who allegedly shot the officer is also in the hospital. Police were searching the apartment looking for a person who was involved in a shooting the night before.

There are 14 constitutional amendments that will be on the ballot November fourth. Public Affairs Research Council President Robert Scott says the first two amendments deal with health care funding. Scott says amendment one would protect the Louisiana Medical Assistance Trust Fund, while amendment two sets up a system that will help hospitals pay for uninsured and those on Medicaid…

Scott anticipates there will also be a lot of talk about amendment five, which will elminate the mandatory retirement age of judges.
