Danilo Gallinari scored 32 to lead the Denver Nuggets over the Pelicans last night 115-98. Worse news for the Pels is that Anthony Davis left the game in the first quarter with an injured shoulder. The Pelicans were to stay within single digits for most of the contest, but ran out of gas in the game’s final minutes. Ryan Anderson led New Orleans with 24 points and Eric Gordon added 19 for the Pels, who have won just one game on the season. There is no update on Davis’ injury, but he did leave with the team on a flight to Oklahoma City. New Orleans will face the Thunder tonight.

A bit of a shocker in Lake Charles as Anthony Gaines, Jr had 18 points and 15 rebounds as Louisiana College upset McNeese State last night 73-70. The Cowboys led by four at the half, but LC held McNeese to just 30 second half points. Jamaya Burr led the Pokes with 15 points. The loss drops McNeese to 0-2 on the season.

Northwestern State star Jalan West will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL. The senior point guard was injured in a collision in the final minute of Friday’s season opening loss to Ole Miss. NSU will pursue all avenues for West to be granted a sixth year of eligibility after this season. West sat out his true freshman year due to an NCAA Clearinghouse issue.
