If the season started today, Brandon Harris would likely be the starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers. Harris is getting a majority of the reps with the first team over last year’s starter Anthony Jennings. But Jennings says he hasn’t played his best football yet..

Jennings missed a good portion of the offseason workouts, because he was arrested for allegedly breaking into another person’s apartment. That criminal charge was dropped. Sophomore wide receiver Malachi Dupre says he likes how Harris and Jennings are pushing each other in fall camp

LSU opens the season September 5th when they host McNeese State in Tiger Stadium.

In addition to wearing number seven on the field, LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette came in seventh place in ESPN’s preseason Heisman Watch Poll. Fournette’s three points in the poll make him somewhat of a dark horse candidate to take home the trophy. Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliot tops the poll with 40 points.

The ULM football depth chart shows Garrett Smith as the Warhawks’ first string quarterback. Smith is a redshirt freshman from Spring Branch, Texas. In his senior season at Smithson Valley High School, he threw for nearly 21-hundred yards, 21 touchdowns and he was intercepted only three times. He also rushed for 685 yards and 11 scores.

UL Lafayette Coach Mark Hudspeth says the battle to be the starting quarterback for the Ragin Cajuns is down to two players, but he’s keeping quiet on which two. Hudspeth plans to keep it a secret on who will be the starting QB for the season opener at Kentucky.
