LSU begins spring drills on Saturday and All-American wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will be wearing the coveted number seven jersey for the national champs. The biggest playmakers whether it was on offense or defense have worn the number seven jersey in recent history. Last season safety Grant Delpit wore number seven. Chase was the nation’s top receiver last season, setting SEC records for touchdowns and receiving yards.
U-L Lafayette has made it official by announcing Patrick Toney as the Cajuns new defensive coordinator. The California native has spent the past two seasons as the team’s safeities coach, helping U-L Lafayette lead the Sun Belt in defense.
The Pelicans are back home tonight facing the Miami Heat. New Orleans will look to snap a three-game losing streak and then they’ll hit the road for the next four games.
LSU and Louisiana Tech will complete their regular seasons with home games tomorrow, while the Cajuns will face Arkansas State in a Sun Belt Tournament game.

Mainieri says since getting no-hit on Sunday in Houston, the coaching staff has spent a lot of time talking with their young hitters about hitting the ball the other way.
Two of the top hitting teams in the country will face off this weekend in Lake Charles as the Cowboys host ULM. McNeese is third in the country in hitting, while the Warhawks are fifth. Both teams have won four of their last five.
Also in Lake Charles, it’s the girls state basketball championships this weekend. Tonight is the Class 5A title game between top seeded Ouachita Parish against second-seeded Benton.
