State Police say an on-duty St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputy was fatally shot by a fellow deputy yesterday during a domestic dispute in LaPlace. Spokesperson Melissa Matey says the sheriff’s Office received a call about a cop involved in a domestic issue brandishing a weapon. She says when officers arrived, they found that Lt. A grand jury indicted St. Bernard Parish president David Peralta on Wednesday for felony stalking. The case stems from Peralta’s bitter relationship with his ex-wife and sexual battery charges pending in St. Bernard. Bond is set at $35,000 and he is required to turn himself in by Monday.
