Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle has declared his intent to run for Governor next year. The Republican from Breaux Bridge made his announcement on The Moon Griffon Show earlier today. Angelle joins Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne, US Senator David Vitter, and state Representative John Bel Edwards who have previously stated that they’ll run for the state’s top office.

Authorities say 68-year-old Florence Berguin and her husband 70-year-old John Berguin were pulled from their burned residence in Natchitoches Parish and pronounced dead. The victims were the mother and step-father of Campti Police Chief Greg Eldridge.

State Police say they are looking for a farm tractor and the driver who they believe may have caused a crash in Clinton between two 18-wheelers yesterday evening. They say the two big rigs were traveling on LA 67 in East Feliciana Parish near the Mississippi Louisiana state line. Investigators believe a tractor with no lights was in the middle of the road and the mac trucks crashed when trying to avoid hitting it. One of the drivers is okay the other has moderate injuries. If you know anything about this tractor please call 911.

October is breast cancer awareness month so you’ll start seeing pink everywhere pretty soon. The Baton Rouge Police Department says a man is under arrest on murder & obstruction charges for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death then trying to hide evidence. The say 40-year-old William Jackson told officers that he killed 32-year-old Lekeisha Duncan during a bad fight. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson had to be treated for stab wounds and was arrested after he was released from the hospital yesterday.

State Police say a man from Colfax died after being ejected from his truck that was hit by a train. They say 66-year-old Drewey Holsomback was not buckled up when he didn’t yield to the train as he was traveling on a road near Highway 8 east of Colfax in Grant Parish. Investigators say the truck was hit on the passenger’s side by the train and Holsomback suffered fatal injuries on the scene.
