An M-R-I has revealed that Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis has a grade one strain to his groin. He’s listed as day-to-day. Davis injured his leg in last night’s loss to Denver. New Orleans hosts the Clippers tomorrow night.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees and former LSU star and Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior set the Guiness World Record for most one-handed catches in one minute. Beckham caught 33 passes with one hand from Brees during a taping on ESPN’s NFL live.

One of the top offensive tackles in the country gave his verbal pledge to sign with LSU today. His name is Chidi Valentine-Okeke and he’s from Stockbridge, Georgia. He picked LSU over Alabama and Auburn. He’s listed by scout-dot-com as the seventh best offensive tackle prospect in the country.

Last night in college…LSU won their third straight, beating South Carolina 64-58. The Tigers are now 5-and-2 in the SEC in a four-way tie for second place. The Bayou Bengals are at Mississippi State on Saturday.

And LSU quarterback Brandon Harris has no plans on transferring that’s according to his high school coach David Feaster. Feaster admitted in a radio interview that he encouraged Harris to leave LSU, because of lack of playing time.

Smith is accused of kidnapping a woman and her 2-year-old toddler and taking them over to St. Helena Parish, where it is believed the mother was raped.

The Tom Benson family matter could go on for a year or more according to experts. The Saints/Pelicans owner’s former heirs are suing Benson alleging he cut them out of the franchises because he’s incompetent. Legal analyst Tim Meche says the real litigation will take place in San Antonio involving whether or not Tom Benson can transfer the teams out of the family trust. He says Benson hasn’t been able to do that yet…:

He says there is always a chance that the two sides could negotiate a settlement which would bring this to a quicker solution.

The Jindal Administration says it will reveal a proposal on how it plans to close a $103 million dollar budget deficit for this fiscal year on February 20th instead of the February 6th hearing. The reported reason given is so the administration could incorporate some new ideas into the proposal that is taking more time to work out details.

The Louisiana SPCA says a baby goat was beheaded in an Algiers park in Orleans Parish overnight. They say a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who committed this felony act of animal cruelty. The head of the goat has not been located and the animal’s brother is also missing from the park.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that yesterday’s fire in Calhoun, where two bodies were recovered, was a murder suicide. Fire Marshal Butch Browning says they believe the situation began with a domestic dispute between 52-year-old Larry Lisotta and his wife, 57-year-old Diane Lisotta…:

He says they believe it was a firearm and propellant that ignited the blaze. The unfortunate incident remains under investigation.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office has released an update in the case of the double homicide which occurred this week in Donaldsonville. They say heroin was found inside of the home of one of the murder victims and they believe the shootings occurred as the result of a drug deal gone bad. Authorities are still looking for suspects who escaped in a white BMw 3 series and stolen white Dodge Magnum.

There are a lot of Mardi Gras Krewes in Louisiana getting nervous as most of their custom throws have not arrived yet and Fat Tuesday is just around the corner. The LSU men’s basketball team won its third straight last night as they defeated South Carolina 64-58. The Tigers finished the game by scoring 12 of the final 14 points. Josh Gray had seven points, and had a critical three-pointer down the stretch. Tim Quarterman had 16 points to lead LSU in scoring. Jordan Mickey had 14 points, six rebounds and six blocked shots, two of them coming on South Carolina’s final offensive possession.

Tonight, Louisiana Tech looks for its 23rd straight win at home as they host Western Kentucky. Bulldogs Coach Michael White says tonight is about protecting their home floor against a really good team…

New Orleans hosts Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

Lafayette could be the next city in Louisiana to have smoking banned in bars as City-Parish Council Chairman Kenneth Boudreaux announces he plans to bring such a proposal to the full council within 90 days. The announcement comes a week after the New Orleans City Council voted unanimously to prohibit smoking in bars and casinos within the city limits.

State Police report a Cut Off man was killed in a single vehicle crash in Lafourche Parish. They say 29-year-old Tyler Cheramie was traveling on Highway 308 when he crossed the center line and ran off the roadway striking a utility pole and a culvert. Authorities say Cheramie was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.
