The governor’s office has announced it has allocated the 146-million dollars it received from the federal government to help homeowners who were struggling to pay their mortgage because of the Covid pandemic. State Police are trying to determine what happened on Saturday night after a man died after tased by a police officer. Officers were patrolling Shreveport’s Broadmoor area, because of a recent rise in burglaries. L-S-P officers say they approached a man on a bicycle who fled and once caught was uncooperative and tased to be taken into a custody. He died a short time later.

A five-judge panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeal will hear Henry Whitehorn’s appeal of a state judge’s ruling that there should another election for Caddo Parish Sheriff. Whitehorn won the November 18th election by one vote, but Retired state Supreme Court Justice Joseph Bleich ordered a new election after several questionable votes were uncovered. Political Analyst Scott Hughes expects a fairly quick ruling…

A cold front approaching the Bayou State from the northwest has the potential to bring some severe weather. State Climatologist Barry Keim says says we could have up to an inch and a half of rain, and the heavier rain is more likely in northeast Louisiana.  Still we all need to be weather aware.

The first 13 homes to have a fortified roof installed with Louisiana Fortified Roof Grants are complete. Homeowner Alicia Craige says the entire process was seamless and she’s pleased with the results.

There’s a potential for some severe weather Saturday in Louisiana. Brooke Thorington has more.

A 13 year old Madisonville girl was arrested Friday after telling a classmate she was going to “shoot up” her junior high school. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office became aware of the incident after the other student informed a teacher. The girl was issued a menacing summons and released on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

The first 13 homes to have a fortified roof installed through the Louisiana Fortified Roof Grant Program have been completed. Homeowner Alicia Craige is among them. In order to comply with insurance requirements, Craige says she needed to get her roof repaired immediately so she applied online.

Union Parish ended its streak of three consecutive losses in the state championship game with a dramatic 36-35 win over St. James yesterday. Opelousas won the school’s first state championship with a 26-13 win over Cecilia and Catholic High crushed Acadiana 55-31.
