A 10-year-old Webster Parish girl who disappeared from her home last month went missing again. And as Andrew Greenstein reports, this one, like the last one, had a happy ending.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office has put a 24-year-old year-old man behind bars for raping a 17-year-old girl in June and a week later a 16-year-old. The crimes reportedly occurred at a home in Loranger, where one of the victims’ lives. The victims are friends. Dakota Anderson faces two counts of second-degree rape. He was a friend of one of the victims’ relatives.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Excluding skin cancers, breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women with a 1 in 8 chance of getting it. According to LSU Health New Orleans breast cancer is the second highest diagnosed cancer in the state.

Kimberly Chopin (show-PAN) with the Louisiana Lottery says as a result, the starting jackpot will be much higher, and it will take no time at all for the jackpot to balloon to astronomical figures.

The latest national survey of small business owners conducted by the NFIB finds that uncertainty on Main Street has reached an all-time high. NFIB State Director Leah Long says this survey reflects growing hesitation among small business owners to invest due to inflation and high financing costs.

Inflation remains the top issue for 23% of owners, while labor quality and costs also pose significant problems.

For the second time in less than a month there was an extensive search to find a 10-year-old Webster Parish girl who wandered away from her home in Dubberly. She was located in a wooded area near her home yesterday. Pat Culverhouse with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office says it’s unclear what will happen now that this has happened twice.

A 10-year-old Webster Parish girl who sleepwalked from home last month is missing again. State Police reports Peyton Saintignan was discovered missing from her home in Dubberly at around 11 last night. Last time she went missing surveillance video in the woods along with thermal-imaging drone led to her rescue. Peyton was last seen wearing a yellow and pink tie-dye shirt, yellow shorts, and blue-purple Crocs. She is 4 feet 3 inches tall, has hazel eyes and brown curly hair.

Two men are arrested in the shooting deaths of an innocent 11-year-old girl and her 50-year-old uncle in LaPlace Friday night. St. John Parish Sheriff Michael Tregre (Traag) says Cartez Foster and Patrick Maxon were plotting revenge at the Sugar Ridge Subdivision – they had been beaten up after they attacked a woman.

New Orleans is inviting you to wear blue today in support of law enforcement. Today is New Orleans Law Enforcement Day. Melanie Talia (TAAL-ee-uh), the president and CEO of the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, says they chose this date for a specific reason.

In the aftermath of hurricanes Francine and Helene, Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says Louisiana needs to have stronger building codes in coastal regions, suggesting it should be a legislative priority when lawmakers convene in 2025.

Senator Bill Cassidy hosted a rural community funding summit in Monroe yesterday. Cassidy told those in attendance that through the bipartisan infrastructure bill, more than nine-million dollars have been doled out for projects throughout Louisiana. Cassidy says funding, though, is not restricted to rural areas.
