A multi-jurisdictional task force says they’ve made a major drug bust in central Louisiana. The Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force says they worked in cooperation with the Rapides Parish and Grant Parish Sheriffs Offices to take over 8 pounds of suspected meth off the streets. Two people – a 37 year old man and a 35 year old woman were arrested in connection with the seizure.

LSU begins spring drills on Saturday and All-American wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will be wearing the coveted number seven jersey for the national champs. The biggest playmakers whether it was on offense or defense have worn the number seven jersey in recent history. Last season safety Grant Delpit wore number seven. Chase was the nation’s top receiver last season, setting SEC records for touchdowns and receiving yards.
U-L Lafayette has made it official by announcing Patrick Toney as the Cajuns new defensive coordinator. The California native has spent the past two seasons as the team’s safeities coach, helping U-L Lafayette lead the Sun Belt in defense.
The Pelicans are back home tonight facing the Miami Heat. New Orleans will look to snap a three-game losing streak and then they’ll hit the road for the next four games.

Horton introduced a House bill that would adopt Daylight Saving Time as the standard all year long in Louisiana. Horton says three other states have passed similar legislation, but any sort of change would hinge on federal law.

Livingston Parish Republican Sherman Mack has filed a similar bill.
A new federal rule that takes effect April 1 will require some recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to meet certain work requirements to continue receiving assistance. Essentially, adults between the ages of 18-49 who do not have children and are not disabled will have to work at least 80 hours monthly to qualify for federal assistance. That’s about 10-thousand people in our state.

Senator John Kennedy has asked President Trump for more time for Louisiana drivers’ licenses to become REAL ID compliant. After the October 1st deadline, one will not be able to fly in the U.S. without a REAL ID. Kennedy’s letter to the President asks for an extension to (quote) “…ensure the transition to REAL IDs does not disrupt the lives or livelihoods of hardworking citizens.”

The Louisiana Division of Administration had to spend 2.3 million dollars, mostly on personnel, responding to cyberattacks last year. Spokesperson Jacques Berry says these kinds of attacks require fast responses, and they don’t come cheap.
He says the 2.3 million dollar figure does not include local government spending on the responses.
Louisiana volunteers are helping in the aftermath of a deadly tornado outbreak in Nashville, Tennessee. United Cajun Navy founder Todd Terrell says the organization often recruits volunteers in other states as the need for help arises.
Terrell says they’ve recruited volunteers from Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky.
The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 21-year-old Ashlin Faith Lewis, who was found passed out inside a vehicle with a crying infant in a car seat. Chief Deputy Mike Haley says EMS was called to the scene and the infant was transported to Our Lady of Angels Hospital
Haley says Lewis was also wanted out of a Bogalusa on a warrant for the alleged assault of a health care worker.
Construction is set to begin later this month for a project to replace the 60-year-old LA 532 overpass over I-20 in Webster Parish. DOTD spokesperson Erin Buchanan says DOTD spokesperson Erin Buchanan says says two bridges built in 1968 on LA 4 between Castor and Lucky in Bienville Parish have also closed for several months due to poor conditions. Buchanan says closures happen out of concern for safety.
