That’s a decrease of 46 from the day before and a 28-percent drop over the last week. The wife of a Greenwood police officer died early Friday morning in a house in Bossier City. Bossier firefighters say they arrived around 1:30 AM to find the home fully engulfed in flame. The house belongs to Greenwood cop Laun Harris Jr. His wife and the family pets all died in the fire. A 14-year-old grandson made it out alive. The fire is under investigation.

When Republican Representative Daryl Deshotel of Marksville deposited $1 million of his own into his campaign account it sent up a flare that the freshman lawmaker might have his eye on a higher office. When asked Deshotel says he’s thinking about it and with the Lieutenant Governor and possibly State Treasurer running for Governor, things are opening up.

Duplessis says the 2020 census numbers show the state’s black population increased by four percent and 33-percent of the state’s total population identifies as black. He says based on those numbers, two of the state’s six congressional districts should be black

The House and Senate-approved Congressional maps are similar to the current Congressional district boundaries, except for slight shifts in political lines. They maintain two separate Congressional districts in north Louisiana. But Duplessis says the state has seen a growth in the black population since 2010 and a decrease in whites, so he told Magee there should be another Black majority district…
