There’s been another drop in crawfish prices as we head into the second weekend of March. Laney King, co-founder of the Crawfish App says crawfish prices across the board dropped another 50-cents this week and Louisiana consumers can expect to pay on average $2.84 a pound for live crawfish. State Police released more details today on the March 4th fatal police shooting involving law enforcement from Bossier Parish. The subject led officers on a high speed chase and then crashed his vehicle. L-S-P says when the man got of the vehicle he was armed with an A-R 15 style automatic BB rifle. The investigation continues.

El Nino is warmer in the northern U.S. and cooler than normal in the south.

The time change this weekend is ideal for changing the batteries on your smoke detector. In 2022, nearly 80 Louisianans lost their lives in residential fires. 19-year-old Shamichael Pearson was convicted Thursday in the shooting death of Shreveport High school basketball star, Devin Myers just over a year ago. A Caddo District Court jury returned a verdict after 20 minutes of deliberations. Myers was shot the day after his 17^th birthday.

Picayune Police Department arrested a male and female in the cold case of an infant female found inside a garbage bag in Picayune, MS in 1992.  With the help of advanced technology, the parents of the murdered female, Inga Johansen Carriere was arrested on Feb. 28 and Andrew Carriere was taken into custody on March 9^th. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was perinatal asphyxia due to smothering and the case was classified as a homicide.

Over the last three years, the U.S. has been hit by 14 hurricanes and tropical storms that caused a billion dollars or more in damage, totaling $252 billion in costs. State Climatologist Barry Keim says La Nino has moved on but it does not mean we are totally safe from an El Nino.

The New Orleans City Council is holding adults accountable for kids who get their hands on guns. The council approved an ordinance that would allow adults to be arrested and charged with careless storage of a firearm. Adults could face fines of $500 or more and six months or more in jail.

Police in Baton Rouge say a local man was killed when he encountered a high speed police chase. Cops were chasing a sedan that fled a traffic stop, when it crashed into 56-year-old Victor Duncan’s pickup in an intersection. Duncan died from his injuries.
