Painful start to SEC play as the LSU Tigers rallied from a six-run deficit to take a 12-10 lead only to give up three runs in the ninth inning and lose to Vanderbilt 13 to 12. Gavin Guidry gave up a two run walk off home run to Logan Johnstone. LSU starting pitcher Casan Evans gave up six runs in three innings and Cooper Williams walked all four hitters he faced. On the positive side, Jake Brown had three more hits and a home run.
In other action last night….the Ragin Cajuns dropped their Sun Belt opener losing three to two to South Alabama. ULM doubled up Texas State 12 to 6. Dayne Wray hit a home run and drove in five runs.
Louisiana Tech blanked Delaware five to nothing. Trey Hawsey and Colby Lunsford hit home runs and Declan Dahl threw seven shutout innings and struck out eight.
In the Southland,,,Southeastern, Northwestern State, McNeese won, while Nicholls lost….Grambling beat Alabama State nine to five.

Louisiana Tech’s attempt to join the Sun Belt Conference next athletic season has taken an interesting turn. Both Conference USA and the Sun Belt have released their football schedules for next season and they both feature Louisiana Tech. The U-L System has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Tech in an effort to get the courts to rule that they are allowed to join the Sun Belt on July 1st.
Both the Louisiana Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams are in the Conference USA Championship games. The men beat Missouri State 69 to 66 yesterday and will play Kennesaw State tonight at 7:30.
The Lady Techsters beat Liberty 61 to 48 and will play Missouri state at 4:30 today.
Southern women will play Alabama State for the SWAC Title at noon. The Southern men are also playing for a SWAC title tonight as the Jaguars will face Prairie View A-and-M at 6:30.
In boys basketball…Lincoln Prep, Gibsland-Coleman, Ferriday, Lacassine and Brusly won state titles yesterday.
